Social feeds

Discover content via multiple social feeds - Super Feed, Network Feed, Channel Feed, User Feed, each of which can then be viewed in different ways

Super Feed#

The Super Feed is only for Members, and consists of content from channels that the Member is subscribed to.

This is a powerful system that allows Members to create a personalized feed for themselves by cherry picking any TOP channel(s) from any network(s). Super feed distributes each Network's content to the Member irrespective of the Network they are logged in on.

Each Channel can be individually subscribed to by clicking on the Subscribe button that is available at different places, and automatically a personalized feed is created for that member, accessible across all networks.

Subscribe button on a "About this channel" card

Members can subscribe or unsubscribe from channels anytime.

This innovative mechanism is available on a reciprocity basis only. Networks which do not want to make Super Feed available to their Members, lose the ability to have Members subscribe to their own Network's channels. In other words, we nudge entire communities built on the MainCross system to play well together, aka co-opetition. Everyone wins. Silly valley loses.

Super Feed is not available on all networks! It has to be earned. Availability depends on the tier plan, sufficient quality and quantity of content, and low churn.

Churn is measured as the amount of needless tinkering being done with the network. Examples include bulk movement of content between channels, bulk deletion of content, bulk editing of content, repeated setting up new channels and deleting old ones. While all such activities are allowed occasionally, making massive changes across the network causes immense stress on the overall MainCross system and also leads to end user confusion. We penalize high churn networks.

Network Feed#

The network feed consists of all the content available on that network, combined from all non-private channels, arranged in reverse chronological order (by posting time). It is the same for all - visitors or members.

All networks have the Network Feed by default.

Channel Feed#

Every channel has its own feed with 3 different ways to view the feed using a feed filter: popular, latest or curated.

The channel feed consists of all the non private content available on that channel. It is the same for all - visitors or members.

The popular filter shows content arranged by popularity.

The latest filter shows content arranged in reverse chronological order (by posting time).

The curated filter shows important content arranged in reverse chronological order (by posting time).

User Feed#

All member profiles have their own feed which can be filtered to show only certain type of content.
