(All) channel settings

Configure global settings that take effect across ALL channels on the network

Post control#

Read the product story first:

Allow members to post only certain kind of posts | MainCross Social+

Post control is a very powerful feature that gives complete control to the network operator - all the way from a locked down network to a permissive...

One can enable the post types that network members are allowed to post across the network. This is a global settings. See also individual channel settings.

The global settings override the individual channel settings, if turned off.

Eg if the Update Post type is turned off on this screen, ie globally, it will not be allowed anywhere on the network, irrespective of the settings on any channel.

Note that Network Heroes always have access to the full suite of posting tools in the channel irrespective of the configuration here.

The following configurations are permitted:

  1. Allow all post types
  2. Allow no post types
  3. Allow some post types

Tip

Note that #2 and #3 does not prevent the member from performing the following actions:

  1. Upvote, downvote
  2. Participating in Polls, Surveys, Quizzes etc
  3. Commenting and replies
  4. Posting and Answers to a Question
  5. Posting a Response to an Open Poll

Post types

Each post type can be individually enabled or disabled.

Update Post length

This feature has been deprecated in v3.35.12.

The max length of the Update Post type can be controlled here. It is highly recommended not to reduce this value once set, else your members will not be able to edit any post that higher than this length. Eg say a member had created a Update Post of length 1480 characters. Later you reduce the length in this setting to 1200 characters. The member will not be able to edit his existing post unless he reduces the length of the post to 1200 characters. Result: unhappy member. You don't want that :-)

Placement of the Create Content Card

On a larger screen, there are 2 choices of where the Create Content Card should be placed - either on the right column, or on the left column above the feed. The default placement is on the right:

When Place CCC above feed is enabled, the Create Content Card is placed about the feed.

Compact channel tabs on mobile

Each channel tab on the (in page) channel navigation strip shows an icon along with the label. One can hide the icons by turning on this setting. Each tab then takes less space, and more tab items are visible on a small screen.
