Network & Channel Heroes

Grant dashboard & channel access to multiple accounts for fine-grained control of every aspect of the network. Network Heroes manage the overall network, while Channel Heroes manage individual channels.

Read the product story first.

Pro Accounts which can manage the network site or TOP channels are called Heroes. In other words, a Hero is a Pro Account with very special privileges.

Each Network Site starts with a superuser account - the Network Owner (NCO). The NCO can promote 1 or more existing accounts into a Network Admin (NCA), or remove them at any time. These permissions are only available to the Network Owner account.

Each tier plan comes with a quota of NCA accounts.

Network Heroes#

A network can have 1 or more Network Heroes.

Types:

  1. Network Owner (NCO)
  2. Network Admins (NCA)
  3. Network Moderators (NCM)
A Network Hero automatically gets permission for all the network's channels - all Network Heroes are automatically Channel Heroes, ie their permissions trickle downwards.

eg If a Hero is a Network Owner, then she is a Channel Owner for all the network's channels for the purposes of configuring the channel.

Network Heroes:

  1. configure and manage the network site and have access to the complete Hero Dashboard *.
  2. add / edit / manage channels
  3. manage channel access control
  4. manage Pages and Products
  5. Automatic access to all access controlled channels *
  6. perform content & user moderation activities across the network.
  7. feature posts at a network and channel level.
  8. have all privileges of Channel Champions.

* except Network Moderators (NCM)

Network Owner

A Network and Channel Owner (NCO) is the owner of the network site, ie has superuser permission to your instance. Only 1 NCO is allowed for each network.

NCOs have access to the Hero Dashboard, and can perform the full setup and config for the network. They can manage the other kinds of privileged users - NCA, NCC and NCM.

Network Admin

A Network and Channel Admin (NCA) account is pretty much like the NCO. There can be more than 1 NCA for each network depending on the plan.

NCAs have access to the Hero Dashboard, and can perform the full setup and config for the network.

Network Moderator

A Network and Channel Moderator (NCM) account does not have access to the Hero Dashboard - they are restricted to moderating content and members, and featuring content.

Channel Heroes#

A TOP channel can have 1 or more Channel Heroes, depending on the plan.

Channel Heroes can autonomously manage a channel, and when networks become too big, individual channels can be handed over to Channel Heroes. Channel operators can be charged as desired.

When Channel Heroes have been assigned, the network is called a "multi-operator network".

This facility is available on the Thriving and Higher plans.

Types:

  1. Channel Owner (CO)
  2. Channel Admins (CA)
  3. Channel Moderators (CM)

Channel Heroes:

  1. manage 1 or more TOP channels and have access to the Channel Dashboard *.
  2. manage channel access control
  3. manage channel level Products
  4. perform content moderation activities at a channel level.
  5. feature posts at a channel level.
  6. have all privileges of Channel Champions.

Channel Owner

A channel owner is the main owner of the channel where the channel is directly related to that account. Eg

  1. A Persona channel is owned by that persona's user account
  2. An Org channel is owned by that org's user account
  3. Normally a Topic channel does not have a CO. However, a topic channel created specially for a CO may be owned by them.

Only 1 CO is allowed for each channel.

Channel Admin

A Channel Admin (CA) account is pretty much like the CO. There can be more than 1 CA for each channel depending on the plan.

CAs have access to the Channel Dashboard.

Channel Moderator

A Channel Moderator (CM) account does not have access to the Channel Dashboard - they are restricted to moderating & featuring channel content.
