At a high level, the MainCross Network CMS consists of 3 base post types - conversation, poll and article. Some of these are further divided into post sub-types.
Authoring tools are available for each of the post types.
Visual uniformity#
While the post types and sub types are different, they all have a similar look and feed, and controls. All the post types appear in the feed, have a heading and body, have similar interaction options on feed cards and post pages (can be upvoted and downvoted, shared, embedded, flagged etc) and can be commented upon. Every post also has a meaningful URL that is very good for SEO.
Post types#
The following post types are supported:
- Update post type - The Update post type is used for all "social media" kind of updates, with text and optionally image, embedded link, audio, video, etc.
- Article post type - Article posts can have rich formatting, inline article images, tables and a large set of embeddable blocks. Add a featured image and voila! you are all set to share your original story with the world.
- QnA post type - The QnA post type is used to solicit answers from helpful people in the community. It can also be used to create FAQ resources.
- Event post type - The comprehensive event post type is used to post about an offline or online event that is going to take place, with custom registration forms, event registration / RSVP and optionally paid ticketing.
- Poll post type - The Poll Post supports a variety of polling formats - single choice, multiple choice, open ended, with an optional deadline. It can even be used for polling without having the user signed in.
- Multi question surveys - We have pioneered an innovative open ended robust survey format that is quite unlike boring multi-page surveys that put survey takers to sleep
- Multi question quiz - Use the SocialQuiz™ Maker to launch your own quiz.
- Letter post type - Use the SocialLetter™ Writer to send an appreciation or grievance letter to personas and organizations.
- Scan post type - Extract text from an image automatically and create an Update post from it.
- Data collection forms - A complete tool for data collection - create powerful forms with the graphical FormBuilder and allow members (or even anonymous users) to fill the form and edit if required, and then view results.
Comments#
All posts have a threaded comment section.
Delegation#
The Delegated Publishing feature lets a member publish posts, comments & pages on behalf of another member, securely and with restricted rights
Ghost Posts#
Ghost posts are exclusive, invisible content that can be shared via link without appearing in feeds or search. Ideal for private announcements, testing, and A/B testing, ghost posts ensure selective visibility for targeted audiences.
Post back dating#
Post backdating is useful in several scenarios to adjust the timestamp of a published post. Examples - archival and historical context, event-specific content, maintaining posting consistency
Image editor#

Deleting content#
In general, any content created by a member can be self-service deleted by the member, however there are some exceptions to this.
